wool and paper !

Quiet.
Not done much stitching,
(skipped quite a few Stitch Club workshops)
making a painting on commission,

 been reading a (thick) book.
And also waiting for special paper to arrive from Thailand
and wool from Germany,
all of that for a brand new felting course
with Fiona Duthie (Canada)

I've "known"/followed Fiona for a long time
and did my first-ever online felting course with her :
"Surface design"
(but sadly never met in real life)
The "Fiber + Paper" workshop was a long time on my wish list !!!

Though getting back on track after my Pink Ribbon Challenge
took quite a bit longer than I expected,
I have now completed some of the course assignments  !

Working with paper, wool and water
requires a very gentle treatment
or the paper will tear or not adhere !

starting with a 30 x 30cm square and 10 grams of wool

adding writing and prefelt.

The last assignment was working with a resist
to make a bowl / vessel.

(from 27 cm resist to +/- 16 cm)

busy hands

The weather was, as promised,
even better than yesterday.
Although we enjoyed the sunshine and the flowers in the garden,
we were inside most of the time,
but : with the door wide open !

"We" were two friends and me, "workshopping"
One friend renewing the encounter with felt
and one making "first contact"
It's fun to see people enjoy the same craft as you do.

Busy hands making a bowl

... and finished

The "new" hands working :

after the first test swatch, flowers on a string

...and finished too
(with a little bit of help from me
because it was a lot, for a first time)

That was a well recieved belated birthday present !

(see you next time, ladies)

another one

When you start making something,
new ideas keep popping up as you go.
The solution to that :
have another go

four layers : two white, two yellow .... and a swirl

tadaaaaaah !
a bowl

Also better photos (without the bottle !) of yesterday's vase

(not a very watertight one I confess, but you can put a glass one in it)
For this one I used only two layers of white

More experimenting will follow I guess ...
