day 26 (and an anniversary)

 LATE !

On this very special October day
 there were sooo many things to do
and apart from that
we didn't even have a celebration
what we normally would have on this anniversary day !

Fixing my hair (oh yes, that takes a while)
making a nice dinner for tomorrow for seven (or eight) people
and of course (like a normal Pinktober day)
stitching my textile jewel.
(and taking photo's in very bad light because the clock went back an hour)

For our anniversary I chose a little heart
of felt and silk.

For the jewel I choose brown felt.
When you  mix all the colours on your palette you get brown.

Some might say what a drab colour,

but for me that isn't true at all :

 BROWN 
 is the colour of the earth 
 of skin 
 of soft fur 
 of chocolate and coffee 
 of old leaves that will nourish in spring 
 of a long, quiet and true love 
 brown is nice ! 

I opt for a pendant on a long cord . . .
or should it be a brooch ?
Well, that is for later :
I think that can be decided by the person who buys it !

LAST PINK RIBBON : day 31

Again I can say :

I made it

It required perseverance to keep it up during the month,

(with a little dip in the last week)

but I came through all right.

I didn't start this project lightly.

But my encounter with breast cancer,

eighteen years ago,

wasn't very simple either

...

and I made it there too !

Pink Ribbon collects money for more studies

into the treatment and aftercare

of breast cancer patients.

And for that cause

playing with felt, embroidery floss and beads

isn't such a heavy task !!!

So here is my last Textile Jewel ...

The 26th of October

was a wonderful sunny day

44 years ago

just as sunny as it was today !

Well ... how would I know that so accurately ?

that's easy :

we had a wonderful sunny wedding day !

.....

And today :

a bit older, a bit wiser (sometimes) and still lots of sunshine !

Earlier today, when man was away to his Italian class,

I was knitting on my last (so far) pair of socks

with my favourite Kaffe Fassett yarn from Regia.

Ofcourse I finished them later today !

The other pair of a more turquoise KF colour ( and slightly too big )

went to a dear friend who visited us in spring and had terribly cold feet ...

However : these are definately not too big !
