One hospital visit down
(and everything was just fine, besides getting older)

Today is a red day :
my sweater, leggings and shoes are red
and so is the poppy made with water soluble, snippets and thread.

day 23

While clearing the clutter for the party a little plastic bag emerged
with some tiny bits that I did some time ago
on water soluble and machine stitching.
It just fitted nicely
to the icy green / turquoise disc
that I made earlier and I turned it into
a "cold" pendant.

stitched on both sides : water soluble snowflake, some Tyvek and tulle,

some sequins and seed beads

day 16

 What a swell party
with drinks and plenty of sweet and savory food.
(not too many people, but really fun !)

This morning I was busy with the last cleaning bits
(ohhhh . . . throwing a party is a good reason to clean up
because I'm NOT really a cleaning type !) 
And of course busy with stitching !

a rose is a rose . . .

A lot has been going on in Stitch Club
For the last workshop by Cathy Brickhill
a working sewing machine was needed . . .
and mine
came home from the repair shop :
DEAD !
My dear Pfaff 2058 needed a new computer circuit
but sadly, that is no longer available . . .
So there was nothing for it than buying a new machine !!!
There wasn't that much money to spend
for a machine that would be the twin of my old one,
so, several steps back.
But now I'm playing again, on a new Pfaff 610.

Certain things have changed in the build of the machine
and I must say not all changes are improvements !!!
But there is nothing I can do about thát,
so getting used to it is the best option !

Cathy's workshop was free motion stitching
with the use of water soluble stabilizer.
I've used that a lot before
but it is always nice to see what other people do !

So the new embroidery foot on the machine and feed dogs down !!!

The next flower has more petals !

the front and the back of the finished brooch.

A pansy from the garden was a nice start.

In fact those two flowers were NOT the very first thing I did
because at the start of the workshop there still wasn't a machine !

That's why I gave hand stitching on water soluble a go !!!

In fact this is a bit "harder"
because with a machine you have two threads
that are knotted while sewing.
But with the hand stitching I had to be vary careful
to stitch through the previous stitches :
otherwise you end up with just a tangle of threads !!!
(I used "random cross stitch"
just like I did in the Tiny Portrait. workshop
by Sharon Peoples)

that were happy they could do this workshop in hand stitch
("machine-haters")

day 19

Though the sun is still warm

autumn is creeping up on us :

leaves colouring

and falling.

felt and free motion machine stitching on water soluble,

(so in fact two leaves on top of each other)

Gray days are surely coming

but this brooch could give you some

shine and colour then !

A warm and sunny day :

the Ginkgo is turning yellow

the Prunus (amanogawa) red.

I  LOVE the colours of autumn !

But today's Textile jewel is green

(or more turquoise perhaps ?)

A green / turquoise wet felted pendant,

on a green (90 cm) wax cord with slip knots, 

On one side a silk couched spiral

on the other side a stitched (water soluble) heart

ending with a cotton tassel.

One textile bead and wooden ones.

Maybe a daring colour combination

but I think it fits well

Stitching on water soluble is such fun !

Almost like magic

when the stitch bearer is dissolved

and you have the flower in your hand !

Some bright red snippets

are enough to make

a delicate flower.

Today was the warmest Autumn day

in years !!!

But it is still Autumn

these warm days won't last very long,

probably over the day after tomorrow,

so I thought it would be appropriate to make another

Autumn leaf.

And YES

I really make a new jewel every day

I don't have a box from which I can simply take one !!!

I do make the wet felted pieces in advance :

one or two (perhaps three, once in a blue moon)

because they need to be dry

before I can continue working on them !

(though today's piece was nearly dry ...)

I started early

making my jewel for today,

because the rest of the day was filled with a special treat :

celebrating something (50)

with a dear old friend : we went to the movie

("Victoria and Abdul")

and had dinner together.

(and laughed and talked about days gone by)

I've already told here many times before

that the class, and blog, of Jude Hill

generated a warm, worldwide,

stitching community.

Though distances are huge

friendships were born,

love (for stitch, cloth and people)

went to and fro.

Admiration and love encouraged me

to send some bits of fabric

to Hazel ...

And today :

THIS

(with some known bits of fabric)

came sailing back to me !
(The envelope seems to have had a lot of tail wind)

A tiny delicate "ship of hope, love and peace"

Together with a wonderful card and a lovely strip

of soft blue fabric !
