felt ... and more felt

I've been stitching om some

little scissors pouches.

Stitching on felt is special :

the beginning and end are neatly hidden inside the felt.

The way I make the pouches gives an extra think flap
where you can put your needles and pins in.

Sometimes I make the beginning of a design in the felt,
sometimes they are like a plain canvas.

Two new ones (front flap)

One inside, and one outside

Then, because I'm apparently unable to stop myself,

two more felted jewels

.....

Today I received my little felt

of our new felting exchange !

(I knew it was coming :

it was delayed due to some mishap)

My theme is "corsage" (though not necessarily of flowers,

more : something you can wear like a brooch)

This is what Karin came up with !

like a felted stupa !

It is maybe a bit big but I lóve the bright pink underside !

I might wear it on a turquoise belt that I have ...

a tiny hat ???

(or I can always use it as a pin cushion, Karin said  ;-) ...)

11 - 11 - 15 ..... a mandala and more felting

Today was our mandala evening

(with mythical figures this year)

I have to catch up with Persephone

from October on Man's birthday,

but tonight was about the Japanese Benten

and the dragon.

(only the dragon emerged and no Benten)

When I was busy with the felted jewels

that I have to make on commission

there came also some new scissors pouches

( ... "with a little help from my friend ....")

and some more felted jewels

...

(and busy with another few)

But the day after tomorrow I will go to a new workshop

this time with Katia Mokeyeva !!!

So more serious felting coming !

I'll tell you alllll about it when I'm back !

some new things ...

Because daughter and I are going 

to another little festival this Saturday

I'm busy making some new

felted items.

The scissors pouches

are really fun to make now that I've adjusted

the pattern a bit to fit better the tiny

needlework scissors.

(the very first one of this new series

went on a very long trip to my friend Mo

"down under")

On some of them  

the embroidery is completed,

others are still waiting to be finished.

Then there were some tiny fish.

(want to stitch them with sequins and shiny thread)

Then, today, I made another small pouch

(that you can wear on a belt)

I wanted to make a double flap on this tiny bag.

With patterns like this 

you have to really think ahead 

about all the things you want to accomplish :

what do I (have to) do first ... 

because "later" in the process might be too late !

The first two (perpendicular) layers 

of all three connected parts were in aqua.

The top flap stayed that way.

The next layer was a more greenish blue,

for the second flap and the "body"

The "tail" on the second flap had to come on before the next colour.

To be able to wear the pouch on a belt

I prepared a kind of tunnel

(with some etamine reinforcement)

after the third colour was on the body.

Felted halfway through and (iiiiieeee ....) cutting,

the template being removed and inside out.

I always like to secure certain parts with some linen thread

and pull that out in the end after rinsing.

Now the two flaps will each be felted double. 

And here it is !
