day 17 (and something I almost forgot)

Today Man and big grandson
went ice skating,
so I was home alone to do my stitching.
First I finished some new textile beads
(made on commission)
for my friend (felt teacher) Corinna Nitschmann
and put them in an envelope
ready to bring them to the post office.
Then I decided what to do with the green felted circle ...
So here it is  :

the PINK  RIBBON  Textile Jewel for day  17

A wet felted circle pendant,
a textile bead, some wooden beads and seed beads
and a (water soluble) star
hanging on a long wax cord with slip knots.
(6 x 11 cm)

"Green" stretching its tiny fingers
to all sides : nature will continue !

For a donation of

€ 10

SOLD  !

 this pendant can be yours,
to wear or give away as a present.
A token of fertility of nature !
All you need to do is send me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com

All the money will go to the Pink Ribbon Fund !

"KERMIT"

And what I  ALMOST  forgot :

my blogaversary giveaway raffle !!!!!

(that I promised for Sunday 15)

HAZEL
is the winner !

The little Summer Solstice piece will come flying to the US, Hazel !

*

And some thing really weird I saw this morning in the garden !
Apparently our Ginkgo tree is a good place
to sleep through the night :

.........
you might be able to find the nine that I "caught" here ...
but in fact there were fourteen !!!

*

Hope to see you tomorrow
for the next Pink Ribbon jewel

dinsdag 8 maart 2016

a winner ! (and more)

On this
International Women's Day
I have drawn a winner for the "leap day mandala"

Delia
you're the lucky one this time !

(it will soon come to you in Germany)
*
For a long time
there was a knitting project that I wanted to make
(on Ravelry .... of course)

But after I studied the pattern a bit
I knew it would be
a difficult task !
There are videos to explain
the ingenious "stacked in and decreases"
But that's doable with a few stitches ...
but with 300 on your needle
.....

But after talking about it with someone
in the Alpaca-on-tour group this Saturday
I really started with a tiny try-out
with only 60 stitches

(the wool is Katia "Darling" and was a gift
from my dear friend "Stins" )

And because it was fun ...
(AFTER  I did a LOT of things WRONG !)
I had finally enough courage
to start with a real petal cowl !
(though mine will be a lot smaller than the original pattern !)

NORO Kureyon Sock from my stash !

When I'm really fed up
with aaaaaaaall this "stacking"
then I still have my wonderful
sock-yarn-leftovers scarf !

;-)

Finally I received another envelope of my felting exchange !

A card, a beautiful homemade envelope

and a fun little lizard brooch !

Thank you, Anneke !

continuing challenge ... and

The fun "Challenge"
Sara started several weeks ago
is nearing it's end.
All the instructions for the possible pages are done
and so is the one for the cover.
That leaves only the binding of the pages.

You might recall, my theme for the challenge booklet is
"lines"
This is the last page I made,
though in fact it will be the first or the second one of the booklet.

On the fabric that I've sewn to the back
is written :

"a line
is a dot
that went for a walk"

(that would have been said by Paul Klee)

In one of the instructions Sara suggested to integrate some thin wire.
I had this shiny green wire in my stash
and made the leaves with nail polish.
(another suggestion)

For the cover, I made three parts.

I worked a bit more on them
and I think they're okay now

Back, spine and front.

I made the spine probably too wide,
but I didn't know how thick the stack of pages would be
.....

This Sunday we'll probably get the last instruction for binding the pages,
though some have allready finished ther booklet.

Anyway, it was a fun thing to participade !

!
Almost forgot : I won a give away !!!

At Jackie's blog Stitchworks

I LOVE the work she makes and she greatly inspires me !
(well, I say "I never ever win"  and I didn't expect to this time either ...)

Today arrived a lovely pouch,
hand painted and stitched !

with a super fun "button"

I was so delighted I made her a "thank-you-mandala"
which went in the mail right away

(ha, only a sneak peek for you)

Fair

Tired
That's what I was, after two days Christmas Fair.
(though Man helped me all the time)

(HA ... b.t.w. walking goes better now :
today without any help of the crutch !)

The start at Friday morning

My lottery for "3FM Serious Request" went well

I will send the money tomorrow
(though it was not as much as last year)
The "request" is this year for money for the Red Cross
to try banish diarrhea out of the lives of small children in Africa
because of the lack of clean drinking water

(money raised till Sunday night  : € 4.328.242,- )

The boy Finn was the winner
who guessed the right amount of origami cranes in the bowl !

There were
48
(folded by our two big grandchildren,
who didn't know how many there were either,
because I had a lot of cranes everywhere in the house
which they had made months ago  ;-)  !)

Tomorrow the felted "Rainbow bird"
will go to Finn
(I phoned his mum today)

maandag 3 oktober 2011

we have a winner ....

Yes !

Late last night I wrote all the names that
answered before midnight October 2nd on little cards
and this morning I let my RNG
in the form of an origami die, decide for all of you ...

and the winner is :

Mo'a
( sorry for all the others ... next time better ! )

Please Mo'a send me an e-mail with your address
and this little fiberrainbow-heart will fly over to you !

In all the hurry of stitching my giveaway I totally forgot
to post about my wonderful swap !
Some time ago I suggested a swop with my dear blogging friend Sus
and she agreed to that :
one of my mandalas against one of her daily drawings.

She got my "Snake" ( on black paper ) and I safely got her

  "Snow goggles"

I'm very glad it worked out well !
