7 - 7 - 15 .... after a busy weekend ...

Yesterday was a really quiet day
I needed that
after this busy weekend !

It was HOT
and on Saturday we (Man and me)
went to the sheepfold in Ermelo
where we were meeting
six women of the last felting-exchange group
(ha : a very appropriate meeting place)

It was so hot this last week
that the sheep were kept inside the sheepfold
in stead of going on the moors !!!
(luckily they were without their thick coat,
except of course the lambs !)

In the shade of a lovely big oak tree
we had coffee and a pot luck lunch !

We could admire all the work that was made during the year
and then took it home again with us
after deciding it had been FUN :
so there will be another felting-exchange !
*

Later that day daughter and I made the last preparations
for the next day on the MAF-festival market
Last stitches on some items for me
and daughter made a lovely "lettuce" jacket
for the little white felted bunny :
the prize for the lottery for the benefit of the
(forest fund)

(he will soon go to little Tessa, who guessed correctly
how many felted balls were in the jar !)

So, after a short (HOT) night we went to Zeewolde ...

we built our tent
and attended the opening with the other stallholders and staff

Then we started with our first mini workshop :
felting a small cuff ...

... and then stitching it with lots of beads and sequins !
(hmmmmm : lucky to be in the shade of the tent !!!)

All went well
and everybody was happy
until at five o'clock .....
the foretold thunderstorm came nearer !
Lots of people (and some stallholders) had already disappeared
but it seemed the real storm would pass by at some distance ...

It did,
but not the wind !
The wind got hold of  our tent
and it was blown down, while we were grasping it ...
pfffft : our strong neighbour stallholder rescued us !

Within seven minutes it was all over :
the wind had disappeared and the sun came back
Not one thing damaged of our goodies
(and just some rings torn off the tent)
so all ended well
;-)

And it all ended with a fire and a celebration
for Mother Earth

What a wonderful day

Today there were some other artists of our family busy

the litle one "discovered" painting
(with a bucket of water and a brush)

though he rather wanted to paint like his big sister ...

She showed us earlier this zentangle in her sketchbook

and her painting ended up like this !

So the little one did some more paiting on the paving slabs
(and was happy with it)

a bit of this and that

Oh my, what a wonderful bright full moon,
earlier this evening.
I love it when the moon is there, in a still rather bright sky.

I recieved my May felting-exchange piece
last week.
It was a bit late, but never mind :
it's supposed to be fun, not a must.
But that doesn't mean it is easy
to imagine what it must look like.
On the card that came with the piece
Jolan told that she tried different things ....
But when she was sure what to make for the Sara Lechner Challenge
(that we're both in)
she started all over again and was happy
with what she made for me

 ... and so am I

Finally,
(though there wasn't a lot of money in my lottery box)
the little rabbit goes to Mrs Clement
in Zeeland

ready ... GO !

Yesterday evening
my Easter Bunny looked finished

but was not !

When making a wet felted animal like this
you build up the whole figure with
soft gentle felting
...
Later on

the rubbing gets a lot harsher ...

and a very good soak afterwards !
(and then ... still a lot of harsh rolling in a towel)

But now,
after all weathered hardships,
mister Bunny is quite ready
for his important task tomorrow :
hiding yummy chocolate eggs
for the grandchildren !

(he did a bit of a try-out today)

He did it quite well

so he enjoyed the sun afterwards
with his basket emptied.

Ahhhhhhhh
I couldn't help myself : simply HAD to make this picture

of the lovely sock yarn daughter is knitting with
and the gorgeous Bluebells !

easter bunny

Some people are really good sock knitters.
A friend is.
She brought me this on my birthday

(only 24 stitches instead of the "normal" 60)

The last few days the cold came back.
So I was inside reading this time
(Ordinary people  by Judith Guest)
because I cut my own finger
while cleaning the big kitchen knife.
Stupid.
Yes, it was.

Today I finally did some felting again
(with one surgical glove on my right hand)

Though it doesn't look like much yet
it's gonna be an
easter bunny

(I'm following Gabi's Filzhase PDF again)

There doesn't seem to be much progress
but many thin layers have been added

He's not finished yet

but some weird splashes of colour are there
.....

(I hope he's ready to perform his duty, soon)

Wish you all
Happy Eastern

(with some Sunshine and yummy chocolate eggs)

mandala Wednesday ... and a new family member

Tonight was the last time
we came together with our mandala group for this season
(in September we begin anew)
It was the last time for the four elements :
fire, earth, air and water,
all together in one person

(don't know where the aurora borealis "came from" but I like it)

Earlier today arrived a rather B I G envelope !
In it, was a wonderful new member
for my "felted family" !!!

This clever, perhaps a bit impertinent, but als lovely fellow
is made by my dear blogging-friend Gabi !
She really makes the most wonderful felted animals
(that's where I learned to make mine  ;-)  !)

As soon as I saw this fox some days ago
I knew he had to come over to me.
I'm glad he arrived safe and sound

I lóve the little polymer clay feather
that Gabi attatched to his dungarees.
It has delicate stripes and is a little gem !

Thanks again Gabi, we'll make him feel at home !
