day 15

Some white wool
that I bought last Saturday
was just right for a new jewel.
Because it was now dry it was ready for stitching.
Though I LOVE colours
there will always be a few white jewels too.

My PINK  RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 15 :

a wet felted hollow pendant with some gold inside,
stitched with silk, pearls, bugel beads and seed beads
and a big mother-of-pearl disc,
on a homemade adjustable cord through a textile bead.

a Sunday star

Stitch Club is still going strong !
It is fun to look at things in a new way
through the eyes
of another textile artist

Alice Fox
had us stitch down unusual little bits
found in or outside the house
that you normally NOT interpret
going along with textiles.

For ages I "collect" bread bag tags
since I saw someone use them as fish scales
in a textile artwork.

There was one in Alice's collection
as she showed the plans for these two weeks,
so : why not  !!!

First playing with bits on the kitchen counter
and then when stitching started, deciding
WHAT to stitch first
. . . . .

The curly, popped open sweet pea seed pods

were definitely LAST !!!

day 27

Some days I struggle to get my stitching finished in time
today I'm just early !
(why ? don't know, I just started really early,
maybe that's why) 

The colour of the pictures
isn't quite as it should be :
the wool I used it dark navy blue:
a lovely "night-colour",
so that was the inspiration for the stitching !

stitched with lots of little stars in cotton, rayon and silver thread

Today I finished the

"little star"

It will end up on a canvas

with the thin dark blue fabric folded under.

(you can see the stones through the dark blue edge now : that thin !)

It was good sitting in the garden,

stitching.

Plan to do more !

day 8

Today I've been busy felting again

because I need some new stock 

of pieces ready to embroider.

They will be a bit different in shape

than the hollow circles

of the last few days.

this wonderful "Moon Star"

(ahhhh do you see that rainbow of the tiniest beads on the right ?) 

It came in a package from Australia

with a special Cat card,

Mo also made

Mo is a gifted artist (among a lot of other things)

who makes these wonderful talismans

out of the most amazing little pieces of bone, tendrils,

beads, buttons, feathers

and lots more.

and she tells you what it was made of precisely !)

And the fun part is that I remember seeing

this lovely Moon Star on her blog,

loving what wonder she worked again

nót knowing (how could I)

that this little wonder

would come to me 

!

I love it even more because there are used

little snippets given by persons that are also dear to me !

what a gift !

winter solstice

It was the shortest day today

and not a very bright one.

So I sat near the window to finish

my little solstice quiltlet

For the sun rays using kantha stitches, worked out pretty good, I think.

(in fact with kantha stitching you use running stitches that

are paired neatly next to each other, which gives 

the funny looking rivulets in the fabric)

Here are the two solstice pieces sisterly (or is it brotherly ?)

next to each other.

And on the backside too.

The sun goes to its turning point and the days are (slowly)

getting longer.

(for the northern hemisphere that is ...)

I wish a lot of warm and bright days 

to anyone who need it.

... stitching ...

Slowly the "thread beads" gather

on the little solstice piece.

One half (on the diagonal) 

will be with light coloured "beads"

the other half will get much darker "beads"

Done

It was nice to connect the swirl that was on on the piece of fabric

with the swirl of the dark red lace

(a kind of dark solar flare)

There will be rays on the outside,

also in light and dark.

wordless wednesday

today felt like stitching

Suddenly came to me, that

today felt like stitching.

I collected some bits and pieces this morning,

then a book to read the last bit till the end,
and some other business after lunch ...

so late in the afternoon I finally could get started.

Three very thin layers to start with

and the pointy turquoise piece :

a star it would be.

Ofcourse I began with glueing the green

layers to the white base

(probably will never do it any different 

since learning that from Jude !)

It felt so good to stitch again

O yes, that black and white strip will be definately in there somewhere !

After dinner I continued till the daylight was fading  somewhat,

I don't like stitching with lamplight in summer.

Here's a friendly face

and the strip is so narrow

I could thread it through a needle and pull it through

to the front :

a star with a tail 

The project I was working on the last few days

has almost come to a standstill :

At this moment the ball of yarn is almost gone ...

and I'm NOT finished with the pattern !!!

So ...

what shall I do ?

Frog the last bit and make it smaller ?

Buy a new ball ?

Ask around if anyone has a bit of this colour left ?
