September

The first of September today,
and after a few days of sunshine and rain
you can smell it in the garden :
autumn is near !

Oh sure,
there still are some raspberries on the bush
the rose has some flowers again
the phlox start blooming for the second
(or third) time
but something is changing
and I can smell it before I really see it.

But for my last Art Market I'm working
on some new items to take with me.
One is a new bird piece
bigger than the usual 20 x 20 cm.
The dark blue background was made already a long time ago,
now I have the right bird to go with it
a barn owl.

This was a week ago
but I was busy stitching and forgot to take
new photos of the progress yet.
The tiniest bits are attached now but lots more stitching is needed.

Besides all this there is the plan for some more felting too
. . . . . 

day 24 . (24 - 10 - '24)

  A foggy start of the day  
when driving to Rotterdam early this morning
and a clear blue sky and sunshine
when we came out of the hospital.
(all went well, though we know now
that sunshine isn't always a blessing)

Ohhhh my
in the twenties already :
you have to be quick to snap up a beauty
because time is running out soon !

I'm always greatly astonished
how much time stitching such small things take :
nearly a whole day.
(I started yesterday !)
Just trying to be "invisible" on the inside
of the lid of this small "luck box"
is time-consuming !

 Yesterday I looked a bit better at my garden.
Normally I'm out there during spring, summer and autumn,
though right now "Pinktober" holds me inside most of the time.

Years ago a jay planted an oak tree.
It grew from a tiny baby with two leaves into a small potted oak of 1,5 m.
(because our garden is nowhere near the size fit for a normal oak tree !!!)
This year I even have our first "harvest" :
more than thirty acorns !
(Ha, I even saw a jay looking at them the other day !!!
It would be nice if he planted a grandchild of the original tree !)

 What a swell party
with drinks and plenty of sweet and savory food.
(not too many people, but really fun !)

Still sunshine and warm

(which isn't usual for October)

I want to alternate hand stitched on felt

and machine stitched ...

but my back said today : machine stitching is better

(though there is always some hand stitching in the end)

The trees are slowly starting to colour.

There weren't the forcasted heavy rains today,

it was just gray with a drizzle.
