quiet ... quiet ... quiet

Yes it's quiet here,
the year walks quietly to its end.
We had lovely family days
and the rest was really quiet.

Just mending a bit
(not for me)
...
and knitting
(the zigzag pattern)
...
and making some more stars
(for the tree)

The jeans of daughter that were lying around for quite some time :
busy mending at last !

the beginning

the outside                   ...         and using pliers !!!

inside
(with some extra cotton fabric for strength)
*

Because the zigzag scarf pattern was so much fun
(using up all the sock yarn leftovers)
I thought I should make some socks
to go with the scarf
:-)

Now two socks on one circular needle

Nearly there !!!

!

I coloured some more wooden stars

such fun to do !

Some more for the tree ...

(which will be outside again soon !)

preparations

Being creative is like breathing for me
(though I also like to read a book
or work in the garden)
On my visit to Yvette, I took some stitch piece
that I've been working on for a looooong time,
because I know it's fun to see / feel things in real life
(much better than seeing it on a photo)
It is nowhere near finished and I should get on with it !

But right now I still have some felting preparations
for the little market daughter and I will attend this Saturday.

First thing I finished was the scarf, with some nuno
(which wasn't flawless, because the fabric wasn't silk,
but in the end it was okay !)

Now I'm happy with it

Another scarf is in the making, and the rest is mostly small things.

Two necklaces, though you could use the blue one as a belt too

some bookmarks and a key ring
(that daughter is showing as a ring, ha, ha)

Oh yes ! and yesterday

I had the most wonderful assistant !

(and a lazy supervisor, who was rather annoyed
that I had no time to stroke ... though daughter had  ;-)  )

When you have time and are near on Saturday :

this is where we are ...

exchange to and fro

In our felting exchange
we had the two "holiday months" July and August
together for one exchange.
You should think that was plenty of time
to accomplish that "big task"
.....

Well, it really was on my to-do-list
(but probably too far at the end)

So then came my wake-up call

a wonderful  red  feather from Karin

presentable on both sides !

THANK YOU, Karin  !

So I went to work at once !!!

to make a "woman"
(Karin's theme)

In fact, I decidede to make only "half a woman"

After the felting, there was some stitching

Here's the little woman, ready to go in the mail ...

... swimming all the way to Nijmegen
to join the other "women" that are already there

;-)

Then I took some more wool

(a lot in fact)
to start a scarrf

And while the scarf was a LOT of gentle rolling,

I started some small things too !

flora (and fauna)

Here we go again !

Lovely FAMILY-DAYS have passed in a beautiful setting,
with lots of sunshine
(and a wonderful full moon !)

We went to old towns, a fun museum, a tiny Zoo,
 and a wonderful garden.
All rode on bikes and drove a skelter,
we did a lot of playing, swimming, drawing, knitting, stitching :

... and some special shopping !

So everyone is again fully charged !

School starts tomorrow.
(with a new "school chapter" for our big granddaughter)

Summer is nearly over now, that much is clear in the garden
but there are still some flowers

(Sanguisorba officinalis and Allium cinensis)
and there were these (today)

:-)  ...  my crochet scarf, which was blocked before we left.

(the wonderful bunch of flowers on top of the post
were hand picked for us yesterday by daughter and children )

a fiberrainbow

From this moment on
I really háve a  fiberrainbow !

The double knit scarf, following Loani's pattern
(with more stitches because of the thinner yarn I used)
is finished

How I love the way these two different shades of the Noro yarn
are coming together.
I think it's a sheer delight of colours
and it was really fun knitting.

(though I hated the many (too) thin spots in the yarn,
where I had to double it up for strength)

Although the weather forecast for the next week
is rather good (the temperature is rising)
I still hope for a few more cooler days in March,
to wear my scarf !

;-)

knitting (and felt) on Saturday

Today I went to Rotterdam for the Stitch'nBitch group there.
Again, like four weeks ago, it was bitterly cold.
This time however we were with
sixteen women !

Can you imagine how much noise
knitting women make ?

A   LOT

(ha, everyone was getting louder and louder
just to hear her neighbour)

Although I had to frog a bit
(because I wasn't paying attention enough and had increased two stitches)
the work on my double knitted scarf
is going smoothly :
nearly there !

The only thing I don't like
about the Noro Kureyon Sock yarn
is that it's spun soooo thin in some places,
I have to break it up and knit some stitches with a double thread,
which leaves me with a lot of loose ends to weave in ...

Never mind that,
the colours are gorgeous !

*
In the garden the small flowers braved the icy wind

still going strong ..... and also gorgeous colours !

For the felting - exchange this month's subject for me was
water
I was in the mood for some experimenting.
The pre felt I made was dried a bit and then
stitched  into pleats with a woolen thread that would felt too,
and strips of plastic as a resist

(the wool is Rowan tweed, but nót very suited and strong enough for knitting)

After cutting the pleats and removing the resists
there was a lot more felting to do

This is the finished piece
which turned out more or less the right size !
(on its way to the recipient )
