ART market

"Cultureel Festival BAARN"

Sunday  3 September

(12.00  -  17.00)

Still working on some new items for the market
this Sunday !

A brooch, a felted necklace and a bag.
The band for the little bag
hangs to dry in the sun,
that sometimes shines between the showers,
so I have to be careful that it isn't wet all over again !

I'm also stitching on a "bird" wall hanging
(because the two bigger ones were sold two weeks ago)
but I don't know for sure if this one will be finished in time
. . . . .

If you live anywhere near
and you want a fun afternoon with art and classical music :

COME TO BAARN
on Sunday !

art market

Almost one week to go
to prepare everything
that I will take with me to the market.

It is always a lot of organizing
because I don't take the same things to every market :
wrist warmers for example
are not necessary in springtime.
But I take little bags, finger puppets
and all of the jewelry.
And surely my textile pieces mounted on canvas !

But most of the paintings will be there too !
I framed the last three today !

a sneak peek of the very newest !

If you live in Holland anywhere near AMERONGEN
please join us on this wonderful
art and farmers market !!!
You might find a lovely present
for yourself, a loved one
or even Mother's day !

I hope to see you there !

solstice

Today is the  l o n g e s t  day,
at least in the Northern hemisphere,
summer solstice.
(and the longest night Down Under)

I've been felting
trying some new (in fact old) things
and it worked out just as I intended
(which isn't always the case)

HAPPY  SOLSTICE  !

a few steps to get there ...

I will be doing some more felting
in the next few days
trying things I wanted for some time
(hope they work out just like this one)

ready and waiting

One day left till the
Art Market in BRUMMEN
this Sunday.

One day to check on the last bits.

Today I finished the last wet felted birds

(great spotted)  woodpecker

Making feet for the birds : finally knew how

And a new felted necklace
(because felting is such fun !)

Great to use again the knowledge
of what Judit Pòcs taught us years ago.

little star

Today I finished the
"little star"

It will end up on a canvas
with the thin dark blue fabric folded under.
(you can see the stones through the dark blue edge now : that thin !)

It was good sitting in the garden,
stitching.
Plan to do more !

*
Felting Exchange !
Yeeeeeah ! I received a new felted piece yesterday !

Sorry : it is much more purple in real life !!!

The envelope was a piece of art too !

Thanks Jolan, I love it !

*
And since both of my own pieces are in their new homes
I can show the pictures now

before the final bits

"Flower meadow"

"People"
(or perhaps : Blah blah, blah ?)

(no more felting exchange for me till September !)

friends and family in summer

We have a summer that is wetter
than we hoped for .....
but days with friends and family
are always good !

Two months ago a loooooong time friend from Germany
said she could make a bus trip to Holland
if we were home then ...
YES
We met in Austria when we were 12 (!)
and both with our parents on holiday, camping.
Our parents kept the friendship alive
for as long as they lived ...
and we are still going strong !
(the last time we saw each other was ten years ago)

Lots of rain earlier last week
but guess what : we had sunshine on Sunday
after we picked her and a friend up in their hotel
and took them home with us  ;-)

We had so much to talk about
but
of course we had to (re)visit the windmills.

It was a magnificent day !

(we promised not to wait thát long again
to see each other )

*

In this week was the last day of elementary school
for our biggest grandson,
so we took an extra day off
to go to the  "Efteling"
For the youngest is was the very first time.

We went in at five past ten  ;-)

And after some time together, our ways separated ...

Hmmmm ..... everything lóóks real .....

but : isn't !
(that was a problem for the little one sometimes)

Pinocchio ...

And THIS is not my kind of pleasure !!!!!
(brrrrrrr)

*

The week before last daughter and I
made the last window paintings
(perhaps two more next year, because of some changes in school)

*

Today we visited some good friends in Schoonhoven
the "silver" town of Holland
I took a plant from our garden ... and got one in return,
and took the felted jewel I made for her birthday

(ha, I just see the magenta Geranium I took with me
for them, is in this picture too !)

These friends are both professional artists
and I always come back inspired by them !
;-)

A cold

It's still a rather cold Spring,
and now ... I've got A "cold"
(got it from Man : he waited a week to pass it on ...)

But stitching and knitting goes on as usual,
so I was in R'dam today.
(uhhhhm ... it's late now : so I must say yesterday)
(my petal scarf is still growing
and the second ball of yarn is almost done)

A lot of scissor pouches and jewels
are finished now.

(it was a bit of a problem to find big enough snaps)

I mounted some of my little quilts on canvas too.

I painted the canvas so it matches the cloth.

I made two more biscornu,
looooove that shape !
*

Earlier this week we had a celebration
for some special occasion with daughter and the kids.
We went to "Hotel New York" for it in Rotterdam.
That is the old building from where the big
ocean liners went with passengers to America
from 1871 for almost a hundred years.
(now only cruise ships)

(the building on the left, with the two green towers, is Hotel New York)

Mmmmmmmmmmm !

That was GOOD  !

a cold Saturday

We think it is Spring
but oh my
today it feels like winter again !
Though the sun was out,
the wind was freezing
and made my trip to the R'dam Stitch
an icy enterprise !

We were only a small group because some ladies
were visiting "De Brei- en Haakdagen" in Rijswijk
(Knitting and Crochet Fair)
A very dear friend went there yésterday
and brought me this wonderful
birthday gift

A very big skein of hand dyed thin silk thread
WOW :  a LOT to embroider
(thanks again Rina)

Though the temperature is rather low
the flowers, especially the trees in bloom, don't seem to mind that much.

Sparks of colour between the juicy greens.

Later this afternoon I said "so long"
to my two sided quilt "I want to break free" and brought
it to a stitch friend who collects all the art quilts
that will go to Edinburgh for a few days next week,
to a small Dutch Art Quilt exhibition in

Ahhhhhhh
hate that empty space on our wall !!!

The last few days I was busy stitching again
on some new felted jewels for the market

Also earlier this week, I FINALLY sent off
my piece for March (!) of the felting exchange
pfffffffffffffft
(luckily the receiver was kind and patient)

"family"

(must hurry, so the next one will be on time !!!)
