new stitched work

Not all the workshops in STITCH CLUB \
were for me the last month.
There were some hospital visits
(over again now)
and some books to read
and older SC-work to finish.

Angie Hughes' workshop about "Indian memories"
was the start for a new garden-inspired one instead.

Though I started the way she explained,
in the end I removed all the stiff backing
and didn't use any glue (!)
Stitching it all together was much more to my liking !!!

But using stamps to print one's own fabric was fun !

The embossed foil didn't end up in the final piece though.

Detail with the found felt flower
(it never became the brooch that was intended . . .
but now it found it's home here ! )

Hospital-waiting time was great for this small piece,
but it took some time to give it the finishing touch.
Now it's ready to stitch on a painted 20 x 20 cm canvas.
(I started this one when I was nearly finished with the bigger piece
with the Aconites and the Snowdrops)
The time of those little yellow beauties is long over.
Even the Rowan tree in front of the house has already
lost its delicate white flowers . . .

BUT
because it is a "wild" one, from the forest
the berries will all be eaten by the birds, starting in August  !

SPRING is in the air . . .

March has been dry most of the time.
Bur not only that :
sunny too !
(thought the temperature still tells you it is March !)

There is still seed for the bird feeders,
a jar of peanut butter and a half coconut with fat and seeds.
But I also provided some WOOL !
I tied it around some twigs
in the dark leaved elder that is next to the window.

Yesterday I saw something really funny :
a jackdaw with a mustache !

Soon some baby birds will have a vey warm nest !!!

After the yellow of the daffodils
now it's the turn for some blue !

Lots of wood anemones !

Spring is such a fun season in the garden !

a BIG difference

When I think of this last weekend
and the one before that
. . . . .
there couldn't be a greater difference :
in temperature
and the activities outside !
One was   WINTER
the next was   SPRING

You can hardly imagine a  BIGGER  difference in one week  !!!

For the Stitch Club this week had a workshop by Jude Kingshott
and she designed for us to make a small book
out of cotton organdie
(which is rather transparent)
with coloured shapes and neat stitching in it.

Well, that organdie was a problem for many of us :
it is not a material that is normally in your stash,
but of course you could use any other materials
that you did have at home.

I was thinking and planning
when I had a conversation with another Stitch-member
and then I suddenly remembered the dark purple table runner
that I bought years ago just for the strange fabric : cotton organdie !
Together with some greenish stretchy fabric
and my home dyed silk thread I could make a start.

My first page

Some other pages of the final booklet
It was very special to work on such thin material
where you can see trough one page to the next.

just spring

Despite everything
we humans have to endure
spring
goes on.

Man's last mandala (in a book of 100 !)
a tribute to spring

just lovely

A sunny day
the first that let us think that
SPRING
is not so far away anymore.

(though the rest of February and also March
can be rather cold still)

Ahhhhh !

There was some stitching of course

10 x 10
in black (gray) and white.

day 4

How do I choose my colour scheme ?
I go through my stash
and find something that "speaks" to me
Today I started with some hand dyed felt
(soft jade green and yellow)
and some beautiful thick hand dyed silk thread.

While I was working
I thought of my many friends "Down Under"
for whom spring is coming !

This is Pink Ribbon Textile Jewel number 4

A flat disc brooch
(diameter  5 cm, 2")
 with a silk spiral embroidered,
and lots of tiny beads and some sequins on the edge.

This brooch would make a sweet present
for someone dear (or yourself)

SOLD  !

€ 10

and an email to
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
it can all come true !

You know that all the money will be donated to
the Pink Ribbon fund !

(Happy spring to all of you Down Under !!!)

See you tomorrow with the next Textile Jewel !

spring is in the air !

O yes !
After a (too) mild winter
spring is definitely here.

Though there was a real thunderstorm tonight,
the last few days were sunny and warm
so I could sit outside
(that is : in the doorway)

The garden is a delight !

*
In the meantime I'm busy felting again :
at Pentecost daughter and I
will go to a market

Here are, halfway done, some scissor pouches
and
some of the yummy thick silk hand dyed yarn
that I bought from Adrian at the VILTEXPO
(unfortunately for you this is not in her web shop ...)

And much more
is now waiting for my embroidery needle !

(I'll continue with that at the end of this week
.....
because there are other things first !)

Easter weekend (and 4 - 4 - 15)

Oh yes,
spring is definately coming our way !
(though the weather isn't that nice yet)

The weekend started off
with a very lovely
(loud, according to Man, when he came back)
group of creative women.
(yeah : "praten en breien tegelijk" = knitting while talking)
The group that used to come together at the Alpaca farm,
is this year "on tour" :
every first Saturday of the month at someone else's place.

(a few more to arrive)

A lot of show and tell

My own work (with Fiona's lovely yarn !) but I didn't
do a lot of the lacy-bit stitches this morning ...

*
On Sunday the whole family had an appointment with the Easter Bunny
and we were glad to have sunshine although
it wasn't really warm yet.

The fun started at th front door : chocolate eggs !

Looking for more eggs in the back garden.

It wasn't easy because the Easter Bunny had done a good job hiding them !

But, with  a little help (of my friends)

And then, when his big sister was making special cupcakes,

the little one was ready to assist !

Mmmmmmmmmmm !

(they were goooooood !)
