day 31, the last PINK RIBBON day

Today my "Pinktober Challenge" ends :
day 31
(and many other things can be celebrated on this day)

You might think that I feel a bit relieved
and to be honest I am.
But I can also say that I'm a bit sad that it all ends here.
Though not quite
because there are a few commissions to make
so the end-total will still have to wait a bit.
But don't worry : I'll let you all know !

I enjoyed my felting and stitching journey

I was glad that I had worked on this one yesterday already
because a doctor's visit made time scarce
(though unpicking a few bits wasn't nice)

Yesterday I promised an other colour for today,
but bright again it is !
I love this paisley shape very much.
It's origin from Persia this, teardrop with the curved end,
the name "Paisley" from the Scottish town
a centre for textile industry.
(today's Jewel reminds me of a day at the beach
with rippling waves nibbling at your feet . . .)

day 30

In our small garden we have three trees
(and two smaller ones that aren't exactly "trees" yet !)
The biggest (now)
is the Ginkgo biloba
I love it because the tree crown is very open
so it doesn't give too much shade for the rest of the plants.
Right now it starts getting more and more yellow leaves
until the entire tree is a golden glow
just before shedding all that gold to the ground.

No wonder I had to try another leaf !

day 25

 Sometimes I try something new
this time it was the way to cut open my felt
to remove the resist.
There was a sturdy bit of re-used felt inside
to give it more "body"
I love how the daring colour combination turned out
not a usual one but I very much like it :
kind of sea and sand !

FELTING !

Oh YES,
I definitely need capital letters
to talk about what I'm doing right now !

I subscribed to a FELTING course
of Corinna Nitschmann
who has this 10 days of FUN with felting !
Five workshops, five teachers :
Dadmar Binder
Mihály Vetró
Bea Németh
Márti Csille
and Nadia Szabó

(luckily there are a few days "off" in between)

Until now I did "only" three,
but the other two workshops I'll do later.
It is really great fun to work with renowned felting artists
and learn another few tricks !

Not everything I did is totally finished
so for now only the result
of what I did today.

This is the "backside" with some "gold" visible
(though nót in the picture) that is inside.

It is stuffed with kitchen paper right now
so it can dry in the right shape.
I might also do some stitching on it
but I'm not sure yet right now,
at least I have to wait for it to be totally dry.

day 21

This day stared with another visit to Rotterdam
to bring my sewing machine again (!)
to the shop for repair :
the machine wasn't working properly before
but after I picked it up a week ago
now it doesn't work at all !!!
GRRRRRR
that's how I felt !
(it's a bit like having the engine of your car repaired
and getting it back unrepaired and two flat tires on top !)

But stitching a little jewel eases all "pain" !

"AUTUMN GOLD"

gold is a metal . . .

The Stitch Club workshop of these last two weeks
by Hanny Newton
was a bit of a problem for me
because I didn't have the gold passing thread
that you need for it.

But gold is a metal
and metal things I have . . .
(in my box of screws
and nails
and washers
and other things I might need again some day)

So I turned the goldwork
into metalwork !

First I stitched the washers and rings
some funny spring and some coins
onto the light blue shot cotton fabric
The embroidery hoop I started with was too small :
normally you can replace the hoop
to the next space you need to stitch
. . . . .
NOT  SO  WITH  METAL PIECES !!!

Luckily I had a slightly bigger hoop
that did the trick,
though in the end, when couching threads
I had to take it out of the hoop 
to do the edges and corners.

I added some safety pins to the collection
and even found some push buttons on the sidewalk
(they were waiting there to be found by me !)
