brrrrr : Easter ! (and other things)

I am really sure we never had an Easter Monday
as cold as this one :
with wind and rain and SNOW and HAIL

For our little family Easter means : looking for eggs in the garden.
(Oh yes, we had rain a few time s and then
the Easter Bunny hid the eggs somewhere inside !
)

Because this time we had no wrapped eggs (vegan)
I wrapped them myself :
some in alu foil (for outside)
and some in coloured tissue paper (for inside)

In our spring garden there are plenty of places where eggs can be hidden !

The first few eggs are often easily found
because a small part is showing
. . .
but after that, it gets a bit harder

And no matter how small or how big you are :
looking for Easter eggs is FUN !

(as helper of the Easter Bunny, I  always count the eggs,
because after a bit I have forgotten where I put them !)

We didn't find them all (!)
but it was so freezing that we went inside to look for the "paper" ones

Sometimes it's hard to see things
even if they're right under your nose !
(in the white felted shell )

After an hour the weather turned
REALLY  BAD !

*

Last week I mentioned "mending"
and that there were two real things
I still needed to do

The big guy was totally satisfied with my work
and glad that he could wear his trousers again !

My wonderful "knitting-daughter"
made a present for someone :

For the Stitch Club this week
I made this "wrap"

I hope the sun and warmth return next week !!!

(p.s. : still some eggs missing outside !)

first month, last day

Ohhhhh yes :
time flies

Another month in lockdown
though daughter visits from time to time
(a good bait is the sauna we have in our home !)
She also took her latest knitting project with her :

A top-down jumper,
the main colour and the extra colours in the yoke
were specially dyed for her by a friend
(I limit it to just knitting socks nowadays !)

But today we were also counting birds
with help of the youngest grandson.
Fresh seed in the birdfeeder might have helped a bit :
there were lots of birds to count !!!

(and later, while mum was in the sauna,
we played some games too)

I realized that I totally forgot the fun object I made
for Richard McVetis' workshop,
not from a picture this time but from my own scribble.
I made three different ones 10 x 10 cm.

three pieces nearly finished

finished

Richard made cubes of woolen fabric that he embroidered,
but for a cube you need 6 squares
and I only had three
(and didn't want to make three more)
So
another hexahedron for me
a double three sided pyramid
like the ones I made out of paper
(like those by the Dong people in China)

The finished end result !

The upcoming STITCH CLUB workshop
is eco printing, by Caroline Nixon.
I hope this time I get some results with this technique that I like

textile biennial Rijswijk 2017

Just in time
(because the exhibition is only till next Sunday)
we, Man, daughter and me,
went to Rijswijk today.

(just click on the video to get an impression of it all ...
or go there next week ! )

I knew this fifth textile biennial was a great show,
but we just didn't find the opportunity ...
until today !

24 international fibre artists are showing their work.
In an exhibition like this there are always a few
you don't quite like,
but there were some amazing art works !!!

"Dementia darning"  by Jenni Dutton
(for us the most impressive set of works)

Susanna Bauer

Jon Eric Riis
(tapestry and beads)

Kate Just

Ji Seon Yoon

Alice Kettle

Murat Yildiz

Maryam Ashkanian

June Lee

Sophia Narrett

Agnès Sébyleau

Tamar Manon

Janaina Mello Landini

It was a true joy !
