Today I finished the third of my brand new hanging dolls.
You've seen the Flower Spirit (Flora)
the Tree Spirit
and now the Sea Spirit
is also finished.

Hmmm I broke three needles of my embellisher machine
on the lovely velvet tricot with little sequins on it
. . . . .
(now I have to find out where I can order new needles !)

Making holes in shells isn't an easy task either
(even with my nice Dremel tool !)

It shows "you can't win them all"

Even the backside is now nicely finished
with my "Fiberrainbow" label stitched on.

I also found a nice box
so the dolls can be transported safely
in three weeks time to Amerongen

A cloudy day,
dark inside : so my chair near the window
is the best place for stitching.
Even then I sometimes need an extra lamp to see what I'm doing,
especially when using "invisible thread".

PINK RIBBON, day 1 (and anniversary)

The first day of October
means the first day of my Pink Ribbon Challenge :
a Textile Jewel for every single day of this month,
selling it to support the Pink Ribbon Foundation that needs money
for research into new healing methods for breast cancer patients
and good aftercare.
One in every seven women has a chance to get breast cancer
and there are also men diagnosed with it.
That's a lot of people !

day 29

A gray drizzly day
with droplets you don't really see
but make you very wet nonetheless !
My trip to Rotterdam was like that
though it didn't take as long as I thought it would
(a checkup for my eyes :
all was well, see you again in two years)
I didn't bring my fishing rod with me on the boat
and yet there's this little fish here
:-)

  A foggy start of the day  
when driving to Rotterdam early this morning

when we came out of the hospital.

 A cloudy day

not much wind yet
though stormy weather is foretold.

Soooo many shades of green still in the garden.
Leaves now still clinging to life,
though the first signs of the nearing end are also present.
My bag of green DMC threads is not always
sufficient to stitch it all.
A few more weeks and the greens are all gone,

day 2

 There are many days that I'm not at home this month
(nooo, I didn't plan it like that, but things happen)
Luckily I found in my stash
some felt fish that I've cut last year :
they come in handy now !

The days are cloudy and windy, truly autumn,
so I must take my pictures outside in time
so there's still light enough.

felting : "water" and "fire"

For the upcoming Art Market in ZEIST
on the 24th of August
I started with a hew
fish

To make sharp colour edges
is it easiest to work with pre-felt
and the industrial pre-felt is nice and even . . .
BUT, I don't have that many colours of it.

That left me with the problem to lay out my wool tops
in a way that the edges were still sharp,
but where I could, I used the pre-felt

The problem with this is that laying out tops isn't
the same thickness as the pre-felt
So : a bit fiddly !

and making the cut for the mouth
to remove the resist.

The final result was the little video
when my fish was drying in the garden !
(still a bit of stitching to do
to give the final touch for the eyes)

And after "water" came "fire"

A new belt pouch !
Brown for the colour of wood
and on the flap : 
FIRE !

First the inside colour, then,
the second layer, the colours on the flap
and a sleeve at the back for the belt.

Securing the edge after the cut to remove the resist
and I like to secure things with some (non-felting) stitches

(and I still have a belt to make !)
