beads and sequins

Beads and sequins :
I often respond to them like a magpie would.
I've done my share of jewelry making
so there still is a stash of that.

That came in handy for this week's
Stitch Club workshop of  Kate Tume :
embellishments !

A fun workshop for me (magpie)
I decided to use some fun fabric that was in my stash
for quite some time :
the flower fairies by Cecily Mary Barker,
that would be a good starting point.
So I chose one to which I had some matching sequins.

I basted down the fabric around the fairy first
and started with matching cream sequins.

Then I decided it would make a lovely front
for a needle book.
Now I hope to really put my needles there
because I always loose my needles !
I lay them down somewhere,
or leave them in some WIP.
I mostly work with several needles with different threads,
so I often loose more than one !

The front side of the book is finished (10 x 10cm)

For the pages inside I felted some neat squares in the right size (!)
and in colours that went with the colours of the cover.
I also had some fabric for the back cover and the inside
plus, for another page, some sweet fabric that I backed with some
commercial felt, attached with buttonhole stitch
with my variegated silk thread.

Then I assembled the backing fabric and the pages
(in the way Jude Kingshott did)

And on to the next project !
:-)

green bag and more embellisher

Some days ago I finished my green felt bag
.... on the sewing machine !

I found some matching green batik fabric
of which I made the gussets,
inside pocket and strap.

Though I'm happy with the result
sewing felt and fabric together
(in a precise way !)
isn't the easiest thing to do.

I'm really a precisian
...

(the red and the dark gray bag are still waiting)

On the embellisher I worked again
and finished a present
so :

only a glimpse !

Today I started on some other "middle sections"

four and a half done !

lucky girl !

That's me !
in more ways than one I would say
but I'm not telling you all of them, that would take ages !!!

But this one I'd like to share with you :
some time ago I got this e-mail from one
of my blogging-world stitching friends : Jacky
who lives in Australia.
She asked if I would like some scraps of fabric from her.
Well, what do you think ?
Ofcourse I said yes to this lovely suggestion
I was honoured by it.
Today I recieved an envelope from far away "Down Under"

Along with the stash was a lovely card with some sweet words on it ...

and look at that !
All those wonderful pieces of fabric !!!
A real treasure
They will easliy find their way into my little or bigger quilts.
I'm a VERY lucky girl, I think

THANK YOU
JACKY

Because I almost ran out of little blue squares
I started cutting and ironing again ...

( the folded size is 2,5 cm / 1" square )

so I could sew new "star" nine patches together.
