Working on more wet felted
little pre-jewels in the morning
and stitching on a dry one
in the afternoon.
But when a very dear friend calls
I have to say sorry after a short while
because there are still a few stitches to be made
and photos taken before the light gets too bad.

Today daughter and I finally went
to our "monthly" Alpaca knitting club :
it was so góód to be together again after so long
and we made the most of it !
(that's when you realize extra how we all missed this !)
But it also meant I had to rush a bit to get today's jewel done
(and photographed in the rain)

PINK RIBBON . . . day 1 (post 1000 !)

Another year
another October month
another PINK  RIBBON month !

And post one thousand . . . ???
Who would have thought that when it all started
after the online "Beasts"-class of Jude Hill ?
Certainly not me !
Eleven years and a thousand posts on the day !
(Oh yes, the giveaway will follow, just not today, but keep that in mind too !)

Again I will make a Textile Jewel every day of this month
and sell it to any of you out there
who loves to buy a wearable special little work of art
(for her(him)self or someone dear)
and at the same time donating money to the
PINK  RIBBON Fund
(and the "Borstkanker Vereniging Nederlad")

Because there is still need for this
because still lots of women (and men too !)
get the diagnose BREAST CANCER
and have to start their struggle with the disease !
For me it is more than 23 years now
since I was diagnosed, had surgery and chemo after that,
but I'm lucky and still here !
That's why I do this,
with your help !!!

For research into new treatment methods and aftercare
for breast cancer patients, Pink Ribbon needs money !

walking (paper)

For week two of Shelley Rhodes workshop I made a "walk-strip"
inspired by photos of a SC member in Australia
who walked along the beach there.

This strip was far more abstract in mark making
and mainly made of different bits of paper
but also snippets of fabric

The strip was cut up and then
lots of tiny bits were added to make a new composition

 The last two week took me walking 
photographing
and mark-making
for  STITCH  CLUB

Shelley Rhodes
gave a wonderful workshop that I liked very much !
But because my legs (knees) are not what they once used to be
my walk was just a small "around-the block" kind of walk
that's why I thought of a special way to depict that "block"
by making a square instead of the
suggested long strip.

After preparing and drawing my marks
with different materials
I could start adding stitch
which resulted in my final piece
that I then framed in a deep frame with glass on both sides.

I added some real alder seed cones
in the middle.
The fun thing is that in Dutch
the alder tree is called "els"
so what better way to make this really mine

Stitch Club
is keeping me busy
. . . . .
There are so many lovely members
in this stitching community so that is really half the fun !!!
Then there are great textile artists
who share with us some of their techniques and inside secrets
and who are willing to guide us
in our own process
giving encouragements and tips !

NO,
I haven't regretted it a bit
taking part in Stitch Club !

The previous two weeks were again
for Ali Ferguson
who taught us how to make a book (from scratch)
but now showed how she made a "memory-story-piece"

BUT
I first finished another very small piece
for the Jean Draper workshop !!!

Though I wasn't too keen on Ali's start with
mind mapping, I gave it a try
and ended up with a piece about my garden
(instead of "the kitchen")
