Right before Christmas I will experience
for the second time
what it's like to have a stand on a fair
(the first time, last year on a Spring Fair wasn't exactly a succes,
but ... why not try again)
I don't like to make things just because
I want to sell them,
it kind of hinders my free creativity.
So now I must find things to make that I like doing
ánd that are salable
This is one of my first tries :
soft stones
I took some real stones
gave them a felted jacket
and started stitching.
Because it is a Winter Fair I thought it appropriate to start with white
Simple stitches, but the combinations are fun to do
Sorry, almost forgot to give Lisa credit for her felting tutorial
which is very helpful for a lot of people.
These are amazing! And yes, so wintery :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenhoping you do well at the fair!
fabulous stones. like little pillows with beautiful stitching.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYES! very winter-y. Each one a treasure. I am sure that you will do well your work is amazing
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWow, Els, looks like a lot is going on over at your place! Beautiful rocks--nothing like white on white for elegance and class. Very seasonal too. Just LUV'd your felted purse in the previous post. Good luck at the fair--hope it's a sell-out for you!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenbest, nadia
absolutely beautiful ... and I'd guess they are a surprise to pick up too, heavier than their delicacy would suggest, which should engage those people who visit your stand. I hope they sell well for you, good luck ;-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThey are lovley, Els, and I know exactly what you mean. I can't be bothered churning out loads of things I don't enjoy making, but you do have to be pretty sure that someone is going to want to buy something you have loved making! What a dilemna! Good luck with your second fair, I shall be doing my second one in December. Lx
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSie sehen zauberhaft aus!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenViele liebe Grüße
Gabi
Els your stones with felt are so beautifully made, love the embroidery.

They look very elegant and fragile - nice contrast to the stones inside.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenwunderschoen!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHi!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThanks for the comment on my blog. I love these soft stones but I also understand the conflict between making things one is really drawn to make and making things to sell. My faux-stained glass fiber pieces are that way. They are "merchandise". They didn't start out that way, but that's what they've evolved into. Like you, I need merchandise right now so I'm making them. Best of luck on your upcoming sales opportunity. I hope it works out profitably!
Susan
wat beeldig!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenik heb zoiets in mijn hoofd voor de kerstboom maar dat wordt nooit zo mooi als jij dat kan....
