new work

I started this year with some felting.
The end of last year I got the Lily-necklace workshop
of Anikó Boros as a present.
I've admired her beautiful work for quite some time.
(I think she learned a lot from Judit Pócs)

(I knew already how to embed stones in felt
and then made my own version, just trying to figure out a lot
But it was not as "clean" as I wanted it
so this present was a welcome excuse to start all over again
)

First I did a simple necklace using a lot of small pebbles
and another one with a pendant with one stone,
but just now I made the one I had been thinking about,
for my firekeeper daughter !

I'm very happy how it turned out !
(More so because I made a major mistake when I made the last "coat"
and nearly couldn't open up the golden stone inside !!!)

A LOT of work, but totally worth it !

THANKS Anikó
for a wonderful workshop !

a Sunday star

Stitch Club is still going strong !
It is fun to look at things in a new way
through the eyes
of another textile artist

Alice Fox
had us stitch down unusual little bits
found in or outside the house
that you normally NOT interpret
going along with textiles.

For ages I "collect" bread bag tags
since I saw someone use them as fish scales
in a textile artwork.

There was one in Alice's collection
as she showed the plans for these two weeks,
so : why not  !!!

First playing with bits on the kitchen counter
and then when stitching started, deciding
WHAT to stitch first
. . . . .

The curly, popped open sweet pea seed pods
were definitely LAST !!!

thread Thursday

Yes, I'm slowly recovering of October :
I missed two workshops
but this last one by Emily Jo Gibbs
I didn't want to miss !!!

I LOVE her delicate "hazy" way she works
and immensely enjoyed the Stitch Challenge last year.

Though I don't have the "needed" silk organza's
I have lots of different colours in synthetic sheers.
They are not as sophisticated as silk, but they do work similarly
and tulle worked fine for the overlay.

Though it's autumn and the trees are bare
I looked at my pictures of the lovely
wild apple tree (Malus) in our garden
that flowers so proudly in spring !

Because this piece was started on the last day
that Bella was with us
it's dedicated to her memory.

BELLA

Today we had to say goodbye
to our very old lady cat friend

 BELLA

21 years, 4 months and 4 days

A very respectable age
(surely for a pedigree cat !)
but therefore not less missed !

She was tired and thin in the end
but still enjoyed sitting or napping on your lap
and being part of our family.

Blue Bella and her big brown brother Bagheera
were in fact daughter's cats.
But some circumstances made it better at some point
if they stayed with us,
and as daughter and the kids live in the same village
they still were their cats, but ours too.

In January 2017
we had to say goodbye to Bagheera.
Bella missed him at first very much
but then had the pleasure of finally having all our attention to herself
(because she always had been "second", after her big brother)

Dear little Bella
THANK  YOU
for your sweet company
we will all miss you very much !

dinsdag 2 november 2021

the remains of the month . . .

 Only four beauties are left
of a whole month of hard work.

Many Textile Jewels already found their way to happy people.
It is always special to pack and send them off
to the new owners.
And many donated so generously !!!
One was even picked up personally this afternoon !

There is a bit more work to be done for some special ones on commission,
so the end result will have to wait a bit longer.

BUT

please don't forget these last Pink Ribbon jewels !

SOLD !!!

(and will be flying to Australia soon !!!)

"AIR"

"AUTUMN GOLD"

"BLUB"

"NO  BAD  BLUES"

It was a great pleasure
to "see" so many people,
and thank you,
all my dear buyers !
