And again about the number seven :
This month I started my seventh year of blogging !

When I remember, six years ago, the first
careful steps in Blog-land ...
I almost have to laugh now.
Blogging let me keep in touch with
far-away stitching friends
and other friends I gathered
in the course of time.
The best things were of course : meeting some
in real life
!!!

Every year I had a  giveaway  when I celebrated
my Blogaversary
.....

I'm really busy at the moment,
but
there will be one
(because I think it is fun !)
So please have a little patience with me with regard to that one

I'll tell you when
and how

See you tomorrow with another Textile Jewel !

day 6

The much needed visit to my hairdresser
(in Rotterdam)
made my stitching day
even shorter than yesterday !
So glad I started two new jewels yesterday
Other wise the time would have been tight
to finish one jewel in time.

But I did it ...
even had time to photograph it in good daylight.

Pink Ribbon textile jewel number 6

A sea green square brooch
(5 x 5 cm)
embroidered with lots of tiny flowers / stars
in rayon and silk,
with sequins and seed beads
and a LOT of seed beads on the edge
(on the back a dotted fabric in turquoise / blue)

€ 10

and it can be yours !
(Of course you can always donate more ...!)

All you need to do is send an email to
fiberrainbow@gmail.com

SOLD !

Sea stars

Someone attentive to detail
might have noticed something by now :

a tiny pink bead
.......

No,
there is nothing wrong with my eyesight
and I'm not colour-blind :
this was done on purpose.
In every Pink Ribbon Jewel
there is
(and will be)
one tiny pink bead !

See you tomorrow with a new Textile Jewel !

day 5

Man and I had a busy morning :
visiting our youngest grandson's school class
Right now they're working along the "family" theme.
Because it's also a special week and a half
for children's books (with the theme : "grandparents")
("Kinderboekenweek")
this special visit was arranged !

His teacher, my former colleague, had asked me
to read my favorite picture book for the children,
which of course I did.
I  LOVE that
(I still have many picture books in the book case at home)
It was really fun !!!

But this took a big bite of my "stitching" day.
I started one textile jewel,
and another,
but they are not quite finished yet
so ...
to my back-up plan : a jewel I made earlier.

Pink Ribbon textile jewel  5

A cobalt blue pendant hanging on a long double ribbon
with a back of batik fabric
( 8 x 6 cm  )
embroidered with cotton and rayon,
one big and several small glass beads.

For

€ 10

you can have this striking blue beauty,
for yourself or as a present for someone dear.
All you need to do, is send me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com

You know that all your money will go to the Pink Ribbon fund.

SOLD  !

See you tomorrow with the next Textile Jewel !

day 4

How do I choose my colour scheme ?
I go through my stash
and find something that "speaks" to me
Today I started with some hand dyed felt
(soft jade green and yellow)
and some beautiful thick hand dyed silk thread.

While I was working
I thought of my many friends "Down Under"
for whom spring is coming !

This is Pink Ribbon Textile Jewel number 4

A flat disc brooch
(diameter  5 cm, 2")
 with a silk spiral embroidered,
and lots of tiny beads and some sequins on the edge.

This brooch would make a sweet present
for someone dear (or yourself)

SOLD  !

€ 10

and an email to
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
it can all come true !

You know that all the money will be donated to
the Pink Ribbon fund !

I really really hope that you are all eyes and ears
about my Pink Ribbon challenge.
Please, don't hesitate to tell your friends
about it !

"All ears" is a good motto for this day :

Pink Ribbon Textile Jewel number  3

Those earrings are about 2.5 cm.
The front is lilac embroidered felt (rayon, cotton, silk)
the back, snippets of Kaffe Fassett fabric.

They could decorate yóúr ears !

The only thing you'll have to do
is sending me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
to arrange it all.

zondag 2 oktober 2016

day 2

Today was a really autumnal day :
there was a tiny bit of sunshine
(so I could stitch near the window)
but there was a lot of wind and big dark clouds and rain
(so I had to stitch by lamp light)

My textile jewel fits with this autumn day.

Here is Pink Ribbon Jewel 2

Another pendant, hanging on a double ribbon
(4.5 x 9 cm)
made of felt and fabric
embroidered with cotton, rayon and silk
embellished with beads.

I thought of trees and the flow of life,
making it.
Do you love trees too ?
For

€ 10

this textile jewel could be yours,
Just let me know at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com

SOLD  !

All the money will go to Pink Ribbon !

While I was working on this pendant
our cats were pampered by Man

Well ... he had to because they just go sit on top of
the things he's doing .....

Then the big brown one wanted to jump on the chair next to me
(where there was still a box full of tiny beads, that I used earlier)

The pillow and the box slipped from the chair

hmmmm !
we felt a LOT like Cinderella afterwards.

(lessons to be learned :
don't leave the box on a chair
don't leave the box open)

I unrolled the dye bundle with the leaves ...

Not over the moon, but somewhat satisfied

See you tomorrow !

PINK RIBBON day 1

Just like last year (and the year before that)
I will dedicate every day in October
to my "quest" for money
to support the Pink Ribbon Fund.

This fund wants to find money to support research
to find the best probable treatment and aftercare
for breast cancer patients.
(As former breast cancer patient
this is a cause that's dear to my heart)

Every single day of this month
I will make a Textile Jewel to sell here ...
all the money will go to Pink Ribbon.

I therefor proudly present :
the Jewel for day 1

A pendant on a long ribbon
( 5 x 5 cm )
made out of felt, fabric (Kaffe Fassett)
embroidered with cotton, rayon and beads.

SOLD  !

For a donation of
€ 10
this jewel comes to you by mail
wherever you live
Just send me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
and we'll arrange the rest.

Ha, I liked it to start this row of 31 with a bit of pink !

All the money will go to Pink Ribbon.

See you tomorrow for a new day and a new Textile Jewel !
