Amersfoort : VKG day

(Dutch Felt Group)

Oh my, what a full day it was !

Full of joy, seeing old and making new friends,

full of wonderful stuff to buy,

full of constructive discussions

on certain matters between members and the board,

full of noise

(women talk a LOT while felting)

and full of wonderful results of that felting !

Oh and YES : and I sold some of the extra Textile Jewels I had !!!

Thank you so much ladies :

Home again Man made me coffee and dinner

so I could finish my today's Jewel

My day started with tiny wet felts.

Later on there was stitching.

It's good, but kind of scary too :

the jewels are being sold under my hands away

(... until now at least  ;-) !)

I had to do a LOT today

because tomorrow I will be away for the day :

the national meeting of the Vilt Kontakt Groep

(Dutch felting association)

so definitely no time for a Textile Jewel !

A lovely day with our youngest grandson

(teachers on strike and mum working

so a whole day here)

Also preparing dinner for six,

that's why I was happy with a thick already felted circle.

I love daring colour combinations  ;-)

Three days gone by ...

three Jewels sold !!!

That's a very good start to say here at day 4 !

At the beginning of this Pink Ribbon challenge

I don't know what the results will be ...

But in the previous years

all went well

and all the Textile Jewels were sold in the end

;-)

(even made some on commission !)

So that too gave me confidence

for another year.

I was glad that some little wet felted pieces

were done yesterday.

Had to go to the dentist in Rotterdam

( nooo ... just a checkup ... pfffffft )

and visited a friend, so there wasn't that much time left

when I was back home.

But I managed to finish it in time, and make some pictures

during a sunny moment between rain showers.

even fit on the lapel of a jacket.

day 2

Today I worked on tiny pieces of felt.

When I choose wet felt for this challenge, I have to work in advance

because I'm only able to do the embroidery

when the felt is totally dry.

(I just did a felted piece on commission for someone

and wanted to see how it would look with the embroidery,

so I started without waiting for the piece to be dry ...

It wasn't a success : I had to wait a bit longer before I could finish it !)

So this flower was wet felted a few days back

and then, later, finished.

I always love flowers, but sometimes they are to big

that's why this one is much smaller.

PINK RIBBON day 1

October !

For me it is the month during which

I make a Textile Jewel

every day

that I sell for the PINK  RIBBON Fund.

The Pink Ribbon Fund seeks to find money to support the research

to find the best probable treatment and aftercare

for breast cancer patients

I myself, being a breast cancer patient more than 20 years ago, 

feel deeply the need to support this cause

in a for me suitable way :

by making, felting and stitching little jewels !

So, I proudly present :

the Pink Ribbon jewel for day 1

A stitched leaf brooch

(10 x 4,5cm)

(4 x 1.6")

machine stitched top with various fabrics and threads

felt back and tiny seed beads.

This leaf would look lovely on a coat or a sweater.
