All of my Textile Jewels were sold !
With some extra on commission.

(yes, I know, two Jewels will soon go in the mail

to Aerdenhout and two more to Karlsruhe, Germany,

and then one more fish will be brought in person)

Not a  pendant this time, but a brooch.

Last week I received a surprise envelope

from my dear friend Doris !

(she said, she had "something" for me ...)

I had to use it right away :

I used it for the feather stitch on that last fish ...

and it's great to work with !

these are still left ...

I had to say that I still had left

Again I can say :

I made it

It required perseverance to keep it up during the month,

(with a little dip in the last week)

but I came through all right.

I didn't start this project lightly.

But my encounter with breast cancer,

eighteen years ago,

wasn't very simple either

...

and I made it there too !

Pink Ribbon collects money for more studies

into the treatment and aftercare

of breast cancer patients.

And for that cause

playing with felt, embroidery floss and beads

isn't such a heavy task !!!

The penultimate day

of my Pink Ribbon challenge !

I slept late, but the clock went back one hour

so I was still not late.

Time to stitch.

A purple piece of felt this time

because I thought of someone special.

Though dark purple

isn't the easiest colour to stitch on :

too little or too much contrast.

I drew some new templates on felt

(some commissions are waiting till this month is over)

I choose some lovely sea green felt for today.

A big envelope reached its destination safely

and others went in the mail.

this lovely variegated (rayon) thread

I bought from the French site of Emma

tends to get tangled up constantly

while making French knots !!!

(now they only have silks ... didn't have those yet)

But it looks so nice !

Don't know how it works ...

but it does !

I'm still in the flow of making these Textile Jewels

I hardly ever have a plan

before I start in the morning.

Mostly I go through my little pieces of felt,

look at the embroidery floss,

the many boxes of seed beads,

and just start !

It was only once
(I think three weeks ago)

that I stopped what I was doing

and started with an entirely different piece.

I think I'm lucky.

Lilac / purple square pendant of hand dyed felt

(and hand dyed cotton back)

embroidered with a couched spiral of thick hand dyed silk,

with seed beads, sequins and French knots all around it

and a mother-of-pearl flat bead

(6,5  x  8,5 cm)

on a 80 cm long wax cord.

Ahhhhh

today I'm really lagging behind the facts :

didn't put the "SOLD" on yesterday's post

(could have sold it four times ...)

I must confess

that the strain is showing a bit at the moment.

It's not that I don't like making Textile Jewels anymore

but

they have to be finished

they have to be photographed

there has to be a blog post

I have to check if someone wants my Jewel

...........
