a birthday !

the other way round ???

(hmmm, doesn't matter, I love him)

It was, apart from phone calls, a very quiet birthday
because we will be celebrating this Sunday !
So enough time for stitching.

day 13 + Textiel Plus Festival

The fading day light was just enough
to take my pictures
. . . . .
after a wonderful day with daughter
at the "Textiel Plus Testival"
in Rosmalen

That's like being allowed
to taste all the delicious cookies in the bakery !!!
Except for the materials market, which is fun ,
there were so many tiny exhibitions of many many textile artists !
We've seen so many amazing and beautiful things !
And selling my two Jewels that weren't sold yet,
and meeting with an "internet friend" in real life !
A great day !

But when coming home late in the afternoon,
I still had some bits to do for today's jewel
(then dinner with daughter and kids
before I had time for the very last stitches)

But here is my PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel

a two-sided wet felted hollow pendant with a "sari-silk" heart inside,
stitched with a hand dyed silk spiral,
a disc, a ball and a tiny bell
on a textile bead and with an adjustable homemade card

 Though it is really autumn now
the garden is still green.
(but I've spotted vines and Cardinal's Hat
with bright red colours in our village)

But I stick to GREEN today

day 10

Yesterday, so on Sunday,
we had a beautiful full moon
Today is Monday
. . .
or should I rather say :

Moonday  ?

On Mondays we usually have
daughter and kid(s) coming over for dinner.
The youngest comes right after school is finished.
And today he helped me out
making the thin cord for today's pendant
(from a very young age
he also LOVED to help me roll my felt !)

and little textile pieces incorporated in the felt at the other side.

day 9

I don't know what it is,
but sometimes one of my jewels
is a "struggle"
Trying out different colours of beads or thread
and then unpicking again
because it just doesn't feel right
or tangling threads . . .
all kinds of minor mishaps you don't expect to occur
in such a small work 
. . .
This one also changed from a "brooch" into a "pendant"
at the very last moment,
but now I'm happy
(and I hope you too)

day 8

Pffffft !
Sometimes things just DON'T turn out
the way you expected they would
. . . . .

Today was de VKG day
(the Dutch felters association)
Many dear friends were there
and some fun workshops to do
(inspired by "BOGOLAN mud cloth")
but
I also had to work on my Textile Jewel for today
so I took all the stuff I needed for that with me too
. . .
with no end

Too many sweet special people to talk to
too much explaining
too distracted . . .

(non of the workshops)
and though I made a start with stitching my little felt,
it never got anywhere near finished
(barely even !)

Thank heaven that a few months ago
I made this lovely pendant, just for the fun of it,
which was waiting for a special occasion
and will now be my

for day  8 :

a felt and fabric heart pendant
on a adjustable wax cord
stitched with silk, cotton and rayon,
