day 21

This day stared with another visit to Rotterdam
to bring my sewing machine again (!)
to the shop for repair :
the machine wasn't working properly before
but after I picked it up a week ago
now it doesn't work at all !!!
GRRRRRR
that's how I felt !
(it's a bit like having the engine of your car repaired
and getting it back unrepaired and two flat tires on top !)

But stitching a little jewel eases all "pain" !

Yesterday
when I went down late at night
with my finished little felted base,
the living room was clearly lit by the light of the moon.
I know, the moon is full today
but you can hardly tell a day's difference !
Probably there will be no moon to see tonight
because the forecast is heavy rain, but maybe . . .

However, my little felt is black instead of white,
nothing to do about it,
so I have a "new" moon
:-)

I realized that
GREEN
was a colour that hadn't been really present
in my Textile Jewels yet.
So a good moment to start
with the lovely and lush bright wool
that's in my stash.

A "found" green leather flower
inspired what I would be stitching on it.

Almost a month now the volcano Cumbre Vieja
on the Spanish island La Palma
(off the west coast of Africa)
spits hot ashes and lava galore,
which has a devastating effect on the people who live there.

It might be a fascinating view
but when it's your home that gets eaten by the lava
it is just terrifying !!!
(and it shows we are just small ants
on the face of the earth !)

I was thinking of that
when I stitched my jewel for today . . .

 When I start anew with felting
I often look for another colour to work with.
This time I took two balls of cotton yarn that I had used
back up to my workspace / studio
and because I liked them together
those same colours came out of the boxes with wool tops.

Mint green, very light turquoise and lavender
. . . . .
so here's

When you look around
(here in the northern hemisphere)
the colours of autumn are showing more and more.
In our street some trees are still green
but with a splash of reddish brown at the top !
Because I found some lovely
hand dyed wool in my stash
I had to go for this combination
of browns and reds and a bit of brighter orange.
