    Colours,
bright or the more quiet white and black.
(If there was no "black"
I would often go naked !)
For a jewel black is such a lovely colour
though my eyes aren't very happy
when stitching on black !
But having good light takes care of that mostly :
my chair is right in front of the window !

day 21

 Yesterday I looked a bit better at my garden.
Normally I'm out there during spring, summer and autumn,
though right now "Pinktober" holds me inside most of the time.

Years ago a jay planted an oak tree.
It grew from a tiny baby with two leaves into a small potted oak of 1,5 m.
(because our garden is nowhere near the size fit for a normal oak tree !!!)
This year I even have our first "harvest" :
more than thirty acorns !
(Ha, I even saw a jay looking at them the other day !!!
It would be nice if he planted a grandchild of the original tree !)

 Autumn is really entering the garden right now :
leaves of the flowering Cherry start falling
and the Ginkgo gets yellow leaves
at the end of its branches.

"WHISKEY"

After the rain of this morning the sun came out
and the temperature was just lovely :
great for me to be able to make the pictures outside !
Then I really looked at the garden
and started to get rid of some of the dead plants.
Not everything will go,
I leave a lot standing through the winter
for the birds and tiny critters.

The aster I got from my dear blogging-friend Birgit
still gives a lot of colour !

(hmmmm, don't know yet where to put this beauty . . .
though I KNOW it can be invasive !!!
I might regret I bought it some time in the future !)

What colours I choose for my jewels depends
on the moment of the day.

Though some might think that  white  isn't exactly a "colour"
but I think differently.
I'm very much in LOVE with the whites
of the full moon or
of a winter's day with ice and snow !

An early bird this time
:-)
(that leaves a bit of time to do some more felting !)

For this jewel
I just started by making a BIG textile bead,
and after that the rest of the idea emerged.

On a background of "Hobbs" I start with all kinds of snippets of fabric.
Then comes the fun part of random stitching
with my wonderful shiny polyester/rayon threads with different machine stitches.
After rolling it around a skewer and stitching it tight
I finish the holes at the side with matching coloured thread.
Done !

a wet felted half circle with a long textile bead and on an adjustable homemade cord,
stitched on both sides with silk and silver thread,
and many seed beads.

 What a swell party
with drinks and plenty of sweet and savory food.
