Xmas 2023
donderdag 21 december 2023
winter solstice
November ended and December began,
and on the fourth . . . daughter broke her ankle
. . . . .
she had surgery last Monday.
A small misstep can have
BIG consequenses !
So time is needed for helping out,
but that's no problem
I'm glad we are still able to help.
So now I need more time to finish the dragon
I made in Yara's class
and take pictures
so that will come later.
For now an "old" Winter Solstice picture.
Sleep well everybody that has the longest night now
we're returning to the LIGHT !

23 - 11 - '23
Oh my, this month goes fast !
But in Stitch Club there was a fun workshop
by Maggie Scott
that included some wet felting !
Maggie is a great artist with beautiful
and meaningful work,
and she gave us a workshop combining
the African "Kuba" cloth and Katha stitching.
This time I had to felt with rather course wool
and that is something I don't do a lot.
(and let me tell you :
I won't be doing it again soon !)
I had a bag with dark brown wool,
some Norwegian, some very course white wool
and some white wool I used for stuffing the Waldorf dolls I made.
I was lucky that I put some of the white course wool
at the back of the dark brown, because that had VERY short fibers !
Despite that, I ended up with quite some holes,
so I had a repair job to do with my felting needle !!!
For the shapes on top I used my normal (industrial) needle felt
and I put some sari silk threads on the surface.
The other "problem" was that it hardly shrunk after felting !!!
Now the next step will be some stitching.

back to Stitch Club
After all this time felting and stitching
for my Pink Ribbon challenge
I finally have time (and energy) again
to join in with one of the Stitch Club workshops,
this time by Dionne Swift
I've "known" her work
for quite some time and like the way
she uses the sewing machine.
Her way of transforming a landscape
into a line drawing
and later into machine stitch
is far more abstract than mine will ever be,
but I loved the workshop.
(thanks, unknown photographer)
in colour, after I first did one in only black and gray.
was no coincidence when you see
the bright Ginkgo in our garden !!!
. . . . .
and leaves are falling already !

day 30
Because the clock went back to "winter-time" yesterday
we've plunged into darker times :
taking pictures outside isn't possible anymore
when I've finished stitching.
Making the last parts for a necklace
is always a bit more time consuming than you should think.
So again pictures taken with artificial light.
I hope it shows enough
of the delicate pastel colours of this jewel.
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 30 :
a wet felted two-sided pendant, stitched with cotton, linen and silk,
a tiny piece of silk at the back,
at the bottom a tassle with a mother-of-pearl bead,
on an adjustable homemade cord
(6 x 13 cm, 2.4 x 5.1")
of at least
€ 15,-
you can keep it or make it into a sweet gift
for mother, sister, daughter, friend
. . . . .

and the following steps will be arranged.
Bank or Paypal is possible and easy

All your money goes to PINK RIBBON !
My rheumatoid fingers really hurt today
but I'm glad I could finish this gorgeous flower
(hmmmmm . . . long gone now in our garden)
only one more day, one more Pink Ribbon Textile Jewel
. . . . .
See you tomorrow !
zondag 29 oktober 2023
day 29 (and still looking for day 9 . . . )
When I was finished stitching today
it was already too dark
(and besides : a huge shower with thunder started)
Someone asked me to make the same jewel again
. . . . .
I never do that
Yes, I do make more than one fish
and more than one heart
but they're never the same !
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 29 :
(5 x 6 cm, 2 x 2.4")
of at least
or to someone dear.
You just need to send me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com

Don't miss it !
zaterdag 28 oktober 2023
day 28
Although most of our garden is still green
There is a lack of more bright colours now,
the few Echinacea are the only ones.
The dark red / pink base that was there for today
asked for a bright accent
for which I thought a small crochet flower just right.
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 28 :
(6 cm, 2.4")
to adorn a dress, sweater or your coat !
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
and then we will arrange what comes next.
bank or Paypal is possible and easy
will be ready tomorrow
for PINK RIBBON !
vrijdag 27 oktober 2023
day 27
There was only felting to do
and hardly any stitching
so that's why I'm early today !
(but I shall be working on some extra requests
the rest of this afternoon)
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 27 :
of at least
can be yours !
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
a new Pink Ribbon Textile Jewel for you !
donderdag 26 oktober 2023
day 26
Today, 56 years ago
(when we were still very young)
we said "YES"
Time flew and now we're here
but it's still "YES"
Because it's so much more autumn and colder,
the central heating makes short work of wet felt
that's a plus now.
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 26 :
a wet felted ring-shaped brooch, stitched with wool, cotton,
silver thread and many seed beads
(6 cm, 2.4")
of at least
€ 15,-
to add your own sweet memories
You just have to send me an email at
fiberrainbow@gmail.com
Bank or Paypal
is possible and easy
(+ postage)
(for breast cancer research)
that from tomorrow
there are only FIVE DAYS remaining
for another chance to buy one of my
Pink Ribbon Textile Jewels !
See you.
woensdag 25 oktober 2023
day 25
Today I had a piece of sea blue felt
that I cut out for a luck box.
It made me think of the sea
and that reminded me of the song of Sweet Molly Malone
(and yes, that stuck to my mind all day long)
Working most of the time with only one strand of cotton
making the tiniest French knots :
shells, sea stars, seaweed . . . a true miniature bit of tide line.
(Pictures are taken with lamplight : late on a rainy day !)
My PINK RIBBON Textile Jewel
for day 25 :
a few sequins and seed beads, it closes with a homemade cord
which has a charm of mother-of-pearl.
(5 cm, 2")
at least
